The science I discovered to survive became the system I built for millions.
BrainCode was not built from a market opportunity. It was built from a life lived at the intersection of disability, learning, and a discovery that changed everything.
Born from necessity. Validated by science.
“The strategies I developed to overcome my limitations were not merely a coping mechanism. They are the true scientific method through which every child's brain naturally desires to learn.”
Harikrishnan was born with cerebral palsy. Traditional education was built for a brain that worked differently from his. He could not write fast. He could not memorise the way teachers expected. So he developed his own system — visualising concepts spatially, building mental shortcuts, reflecting on his own understanding after every session.
He did not have a name for what he was doing. He just knew it worked. Years later, deep in research after a business failure, he encountered David Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle and Barry Zimmerman's Self-Regulated Learning model. He stopped reading.
What he had independently built for survival was the same thing these researchers had spent decades studying in universities. The visualisation was Kolb's Concrete Experience stage. The mental shortcuts were Zimmerman's Forethought phase. The reflection was Kolb's Reflective Observation stage.
That realisation became the foundation of BrainCode. This was not a personal hack. This was how every brain wants to learn. The system just needed to be built — at scale, with mentors, for every child.
Harikrishnan Kalarikkal Joshi
Co-Founder & CEO · Author, The BrainCode Framework
Developed independent learning strategies to survive a system not built for cerebral palsy — unknowingly applying Kolb and Zimmerman before knowing their names.
Built and led EdTech ventures. Watched the same broken system replicate itself digitally — videos replacing blackboards, but passive learning remaining unchanged.
Business failure. Intense self-reflection. Realised the EdTech market had no equivalent to what the brain actually needs to develop genuine independence.
Three years of research. The BrainCode Framework. A 25-student Kerala pilot. And a book that timestamps the vision before any investor or co-founder touches it.
The Book
The BrainCode Framework
Written by Harikrishnan before any investor or co-founder engagement. The book timestamps the intellectual vision of BrainCode — the full VARK + Kolb + Zimmerman architecture — as original work. It exists as a permanent record of where the idea came from and what it is designed to achieve.
Built on 40 years of validated research
Harikrishnan spent three years studying the academic literature — then synthesised VARK, Kolb, and Zimmerman into one integrated framework for children.
Neil Fleming · 1987
VARK
Four modalities of learning input
In BrainCode
Identifies how a child absorbs new information — the entry format for every session
David Kolb · 1984
Experiential Learning Cycle
Learning begins with doing, not theory
In BrainCode
Every concept in BrainCode follows this 4-stage sequence — never theory-first
Barry Zimmerman · 2000
Self-Regulated Learning
The science of independent learning
In BrainCode
The 18-month endpoint — a student who can learn anything independently
Harikrishnan · 2026
The BrainCode Framework
An original integration of all three models
In BrainCode
The only system that uses all three models for a single child, consistently across 18 months
Two founders. One mission.
The vision to design transformation. And the discipline to deliver it consistently.

Harikrishnan is the learning systems architect behind BrainCode. Born with cerebral palsy, he spent his school years developing independent learning strategies that — years later — he discovered were the same principles David Kolb and Barry Zimmerman had formalised through decades of academic research.
He leads the educational framework, product vision, curriculum architecture, and go-to-market strategy — building an adaptive learning system that teaches students not what to learn, but how to learn for life. He is also the author of The BrainCode Framework.

Afshin brings the operational backbone that every ambitious learning company needs. With a background in operations and business management, he understands that the distance between a great idea and a working product is almost entirely execution.
At BrainCode, he is responsible for the internal infrastructure that makes delivery consistent and scalable — designing the processes, coordination systems, and operational workflows that allow the learning framework to reach students with quality and repeatability.

The Kerala Pilot
BrainCode launched its first cohort with 25 Grade 5 CBSE students in Kerala. Not because it is the easiest market — but because it is where the problem is most visible and where the framework can be validated most honestly.
